The U.K. Office for National Statistics said that U.K's core retail
sales, which exclude automobile sales, rose 2.1% in May, beating
expectations for a 0.9% increase, after falling 1.2% in the preceding
month. Annual Retail Sales excluding Fuel increased 2.1%, up from the
0.6% rise and above market consensus of 0.5% growth.
